About the Dance Summer Camp Program

Diana Quijano-Graham supervises Hofstra Summer Camp’s Dance Camp.   The campers do jazz and lyrical dance, and they get an opportunity to choreograph their own dances. This program prepares campers to perform in a show at the end of the second-week session. “This is a good program for campers who are interested in all aspects of dance performance,” said Quijano-Graham. “We cover staging, choreography, music and preparing the playbill. Some campers will see both sides of performing. The backstage challenges and the audiences’ enjoyment. I love seeing the campers take all of these aspects into consideration.

Diana’s Three Tips:

1.  Challenge your performing fears.
2. Gain confidence.
3.  Enjoy performing.

Her favorite quote is from Maya Angelou: “When people show you who they are, believe them.”

When not at camp, Diana teaches dance at three different studios: ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap. “I enjoy teaching young people and encouraging them to reach their potential,” said Quijano-Graham, whose favorite job was performing in a Broadway show at the Lunt -Fontaine Theater.
